Welcome to Pakwatan Foundation
Pakwatan Foundation is the crystallization of decades of informal social work by Brig(Retd) Ghulam Abbas Awan and Col (Rted) Taimoor Sultan Awan . Having worked untiringly for upliftment of Pakistan through social upward mobility of the peoples from rural background, their work has been formalized in the registered organization, Pakwatan Foundation.
The foundation was registered in 2004 initially focusing on micro-financing. That project soon spawned new avenues of growth and today, the Foundation is involved in a multitude of projects ranging from Education to Health care and from Social Upliftment of rural communities to women empowerment and much more.
Pakwatan Foundation has been a family-run organization Woking informally for betterment of the needy and Underprivileged especially in rural areas. We have incorporated a variety of members/ office bearers for maximum diversity in ideas and planning. Now we plan to expand our focus to a wider canvas and formalise our social service efforts to help more and more people across the country.

Brig(Retd) Ghulam Abbas Awan, TBt
Brig (Retd) Ghulam Abbas Awan served for more than Three Decades in the Pakistan Army (infantry). He has vast experience in various leadership roles, earning Three “Operational Awards” for his valor and beyond-the-call-of-duty commitment. He has been involved in informal social service throughout his life. Brig Abbas oversees the broad direction of the Foundation and the larger policy decisions.
Col (Retd) Taimoor Sultan, SI(M), TBt
Col Taimoor is a decorated Officer of Pakistan Army , with broad based experience in various Command, staff and instructional positions. 3 Military Awards adorn his uniform as he has vast experience of combat and operations. His diverse experience includes stints with United Nations Peacekeeping forces in Africa and appointment as Project Director, Motorway (M-2 )and various operational and instructional appointments. He has been an avid philanthropist throughout. Since his retirement, he is involved in the day to day operations of the Foundation, serving as the fountainhead of new initiatives. He is also a businessman and CEO of TAB Developers- A Real Estate Enterprise.
Second Generation Philanthropists
Sarmad Abbas and Hashmat Abbas, have inherited the spirit of National Service from their father and today are contributing effectively to his Mission. Running their private businesses, both understand the issues at the grass-roots and strive to bring a change. Hashmat Abbas is the Operational Head of Pakwatan Foundation and looks after the implementation aspects of the projects.
Women Representation
The Foundation has been aware of the need for a women-friendly approach in its Mission. Begum Brig Abbas, Begum Javeria Taimoor, Begum Sadia Sarmad and Begum Anum Hashmat form the core of the lady’s team at the Foundation. Their contribution has steered the foundation into avenues of Widow Welfare and child adoption/ SOS Village programs.
